Long Weekend in Seattle

This past weekend, we spent a long weekend in Seattle.  We were able to get some cheap tickets and decided to go down for a couple of days and act like tourists!

Friday was the big day - we went on the Future of Flight Tour at Boeing's Everett plant.  This is where they make wide body jets, so the 747, 777, and the new Dreamliner 787!  Unfortunately, we could not take photos during the tour, but I got some at their museum and outside of the buildings.  It was only 90 minutes, but even I could have stayed longer!

Saturday we decided to take the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston.

Once we got off the ferry we decided to drive over to Port Townsend, where Andrew's family is from.  His great-great grandfather moved there in the 1880s and his great-grandfather was born and grew up there.  We even found the house they lived in!  It was such a cute seaside town with amazing, old architecture.  I had a hard time not taking too many pictures.

After we returned to Edmonds, we drove to Magnolia and had lunch at our favorite Greek restaurant, Niko's.  They happened to be having a neighborhood farmers market, so we sat in the sun and took it all in.

Sunday, we were able to check out Mars Hill Bellevue.  It was neat checking out another church, and even chatting with the lead tech guy there.

After church we headed over to Ballard and the locks, so Andrew could show me one of his favorite childhood pastimes.  It was a neat process, and it was especially fun to enjoy the sunshine at the same time.

Monday, we had lunch at our favorite "beach" restaurant, Spud's, in Alki Beach.  They also have a park that had some great views of Seattle - Belvidere Park.

Then we moved on to Point Defiance, in Tacoma, and were able to take some pictures in the Japanese Tea Gardens where my parents were married in 1982.

Tuesday we went downtown and went up the Space Needle!

Then we headed down to Pike's Market.

The weather was gorgeous and warm!  It was sunny and in the low 80s by the time we left.  It was a great short trip, getting away and having fun!
